About

My name is Yara, language enthusiast, and translator since 1998.

Born to Italian – Brazilian parents, raised in the United States in an international and culturally diverse environment, I was lucky to have experienced a myriad of different types of schooling, from British, to American, to French and ultimately to University in Italy where I got a degree in Languages and Literature (French and English).

In an international environment you live and breathe and in some ways assimilate bits and pieces of all the cultures that you come into contact with on a daily basis.

This creates an adaptability and curiosity that go beyond the ordinary, and it is a very privileged way to approach and see the world.

Turning this completely accidental upbringing into a lifelong commitment to languages and culture was a short step. In the sense that I kind of fell into it by accident, as in most situations in my life someone was always translating for someone else. This is what happens when you consistently put people that speak many different, and more than one language at a time, together.

Although, to be honest I have always been a bookworm, the library was literally my favorite place in the world well into my teens, and books and reading (and all that goes with that) are my inner sanctum.

So transforming the written word and the fascinating ramifications it entails, was just the next logical step in a lifetime built on words.
